I imagine diving deep into the sea. Translucent curtains of light slowly drown into the darkness. Self-illumined blue of sand underneath.
There. There is a shell. A flickering flash, a pearl inside the open salty mouth that immediately closes as soon as I try to touch it.
I need to keep my distance. I need to be still.
The sand moves inside the water, whispering lyrics in a foreign language. Then, the mouth slowly opens again. The beauty of the shell is only revealed when it’s not forcefully owned…
I can’t hold my breath anymore. While I swim up, I wonder if it’s a secret of the universe — all the complex self-significant beauty of it, only revealed to you when you hold your breath, stay still and observe……
